The Gir National Park is extremely popular among the people  and is a famous sightseeing appeal of Sasan Gir National Park. The national park extends for about 1425 sq.km and came into existence in the year 1977.This park is  usually recognized for its inhabitants, Asiatic lions and thought to be extremely  safe and sheltered area for these lions.

Gir was acknowledged as a Wildlife Sanctuary in the year 1965 and was given the status of National Park after ten years.

The other wild animals that are found in the Gir National Park are Leopard, Jungle Cat, Jackal, Striped Hyena, Ruddy Mongoose. The herbivore animals that are found in Gir National Park are chiral, Chowsingha, Nilgai, Chinkara, Sambar and Wild Boar. There are approximately 300 different types of bird species found here like a Great Horned Owl, Shaheen Falcon, Tawny eagle, Bonelli’s Eagle and Blackwinged Kite. Some more are Jungle Bush Quail, Nightjar,Grey Partridge, Gray Drongo, Black-headed Cuckoo Shrike, Pied Woodpecker, Black Ibis, White-necked Stork is even found in Gir.
